Jeff has spent over 33 years as a Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed.  In the past he has run a tax preparation business (1979-1984) and been an instructor in the Financial Planning Certificate Program for The University of California Extension (1982-1992).  Jeff managed a Division office for Waddell & Reed in Riverside California (1982-1993) and moved to the Carson Valley in 1994.  

Jeff has served on Waddell & Reed’s “President’s Council” for nine years.  (President’s Council is the top 12 financial advisors in the company based on an analysis of investment, insurance and financial planning sales generated by the advisors for the prior year.)  The council members meet regularly with Senior Management to discuss issues with the firm and financial planning for its clients.  2001 – 2013

Jeff was recognized for being the third person in Waddell & Reed’s 75 year history to achieve $200 Million in career investment sales in 2013.

Jeff graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1981 with a major in Finance.  In 1985 he received his Certified Financial PlannerTM certification and in 1995 completed a Master of Science degree from the College of Financial Planning in Denver with specialized emphasis in Retirement Planning.

Jeff is active in his church.  He served a mission for his church in Montevideo Uruguay from 1976 to 1978.  He is active in the Boy Scouts of America and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Area Council BSA and is the Council Commissioner. Currently Jeff coordinates religious services for his church at the three Nevada Correctional Facilities in Carson City.   He has many interests including gardening, horses, aviation, skiing, and many outdoor activities.  He plays the piano and guitar and sings in the church choir.

Jeff is married to Marla for 34 years.  They have four children and four grandchildren

In his financial planning practice, Jeff has worked with many different kinds of clients.  He helps small business owners set up a retirement plan and newly retired individuals set up a plan for their retirement.  He has worked on complex estates, but finds great satisfaction in helping a person new to planning and investing get their start on their own plan.
